Summer Theatre Academy
In order to strengthen and expand its presence, the Greek National Theatre organises educational activities in different parts of Greece as well as abroad. Artistic and educational activities create a network of theatrical and other cultural institutions from different countries, through which a theatrical dialogue can be developed among the people of the arts, both Greek and foreign, while promoting theatrical education.
The Summer Theatre Academy responds to the demand for fruitful dialogue between different theatrical cultures and individuals, combining educational activity with theatrical exploration, the theatre with the other arts, and contemporary Greek culture with art from abroad.
In this context, the Summer Theatre Academy is an artistic, educational and cultural programme that aims to strengthen theatrical education, to expand the horizons of theatrical knowledge and communication, to bring together major drama schools and young artists, creators and academics from Greece and abroad, and to support the dialogue between the centre and the provinces, supporting culture in cities and regions far from the capital.
The Greek National Theatre is reaching beyond Athens to bring historically and culturally important parts of Greece a fruitful meeting of the old and the new, of the local or regional and the international, and of the professional and the amateur.
