Linked with the historical tradition of travelling theatre troupes, Golfo is almost synonymous with this aspect of Greek theatre. Romantic rivalries, moral dilemmas and heartrending choices run through this important example of Greek theatrical heritage.
 
Mourning becomes Electra  written by Eugene O Neill
Directed by Yannis Houvardas
Main Stage - Opening night: 7 November 
 
Eugene O Neil reworks the myth of Orestes and updates it into a modern trilogy, revealing the corrosion of the bourgeoisie hidden by a flawless facade. The expansive material of the trilogy has been adapted and condensed into a single play by its director.

Directed by Efi Theodorou
Ziller Building – Stage Nikos Kourkoulos, Opening night: 20 September
 
Z, a fictionalised account of the assassination of Greek PM Grigoris Lambrakis, was first published in 1966. Adopting a variety of narrative techniques, the writer highlights both the human and the political dimension of the events, focusing on individuals and situations that have played a defining role in the creation of present-day Greece.

Molière with his play satirizes one of the most important human passions: money. In the fast-moving plot of the play this passion is revealed as a disease that turns people pathetic while at the same time Moliere makes fun of certain theatrical conventions.
 
Neighborhood of Angels written by Iakovos Kambanellis
Directed by Kostas Tsianos
Rex Theatre  - Opening night: 25 October
 
Kambanellis, one of the most important Greek playwrights of the 20th century, with this play enlivened the Greek society of the 1960s. Presents the new era that is founded on the rubbles, the ideological conflicts and the aspirations for a better future. 
 
The Plant Carer  written by Pavlos Matesis
Directed by Ectoras Ligyzos

With a sharp tongue, explosive imagination and intelligent theatrical situations Matesis delivers an excellent metaphor for the human condition and a farce about life and death. The direction is undertaken by one of the most aspiring directors of the new generation.
