The Iliad

ANCIENT HERITAGE, NEW PERSPECTIVES A stage presentation of Homer's Iliad in a translation by Dimitris Maronitis. Every year, the “Ancient Heritage, New Perspectives” cycle of productions will present works in ancient Greek adapted for the stage. The cycle will begin this year with Homer's Iliad. To mark the completion of its translation by the great classical scholar Dimitris Maronitis, the National Theatre has invited some of Greece’s most important actresses to present the 24 rhapsodies of this great work in an original staged version. Each week, a new rhapsody will be performed by a different actress, each bringing Homer's epic to life in her own inimitable style...
