Eleana was born in Athens. She is an actress, director, playwright, movement coach, theatre educator and Artistic Director of RETRꝊSPECTIVA. She graduated with honors from the Department of Theatre Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), trained at the Drama School of the Art Theatre Karolos Koun (2008), and pursued her postgraduate studies (MA in Physical Performance) under the mentorship of Phillip Zarrilli at the University of Exeter, UK.
As an actress, Eleana received the Young Theatre Artist Award / Koun Award 2016 for her performances as “Maria” in Woyzeck by G. Büchner and as “I-330” in We by Y. Zamyatin.
As a creator and actress, Eleana has participated in productions in Greece and abroad. She has collaborated with institutions such as: Neuköllner Oper (Berlin), La Colline Théâtre National (Paris), Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Grotowski Institute (Poland), National Theatre of Greece, National Theatre of Northern Greece, among others. She has performed leading roles in works from both the classical and contemporary repertoire. Examples of her stage work include: HOLLY BITCH (dir. Elli Papakonstantinou, 2025), ABYSS (dir. Eleana Georgouli, 2025), ALGORITHM (dir. A. Kazazou & E. Georgouli, 2023), Medeamaterial (dir. E. Mastrokalou, 2018), The Mission (2017), We (2016), and Woyzeck (2014, dir. S. Stroumbos).
As a director, she has written and directed, among others, the performances: ABYSS | a paradoxical liminal ritual (Plyfa 2025, Creative Greece, Hellenic Ministry of Culture 2025), ALGORITHM (NTNG Foyer & UTE FEST, Cluj 2023, Thiseio Theatre 2024), Touring Troupe (Eler Theatre, “All of Greece, One Culture,” Hellenic Ministry of Culture 2022), The Red Notebooks (Νeos Kosmos Theatre, 2020).
In the field of arts education, she has taught and curated workshops on physical performance for institutions such as the Epidaurus Lyceum of the Athens Festival, as well as for drama schools, professional dance schools, and performing arts festivals. She is a faculty member at the Drama School of the National Theatre of Northern Greece, the 10Θ Theatre School, and the Arts Academy 100, of the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, where she teaches acting.
