Maria Vourou is a dance artist and performer based in Athens. She is a graduate of the Greek National School of Dance and she currently studies Art Theory and History in Athens School of Fine Arts. As a performer, she has collaborated with Sofia Mavragani, Iris Karayan, Tzeni Argyriou, Eleonora Siarava, Irini Kalaitzidi, Artemis Lampiri and Chrysanthi Badeka among others, and she has taken part in productions of Hellenic Dance Company and Fluxum Foundation. She has performed in festivals such as the International Festival of Buenos Aires (FIBA, Argentine), Athens and Epidaurus Festival (Greece), New Choreographers Festival 8 (Onassis Stegi, Greece) and Resolution Festival 19 (The Place, London). In 2019, she was a member of the educational project Return Trip from Fondazione Nazionale Della Danza/Aterballetto in Italy. In her artistic practice, she explores movement and the use of the voice, while establishing a playful connection to rhythm and transformation.
