Thanassis Akokkalidis

Thanassis Akokkalidis is a Greek actor, performer/ dancer and performance maker-director. Born in Athens, he studied theatre at Veaki School of Dramatic Arts. He made his dancing debut with Choreographer Zouzou Nikoloudi, as a member of Zouzou Nikoloudi Dance Group. Ever since he has performed as an actor or a dancer at the Greek National Theatre, the National Theatre of Northern Greece, Onassis Stegi, Greek National Opera, the Art Theater of Greece Karolos Koun, Athens and Epidaurus Festival, SadlerWells, Piccolo Teatro, Guggenheim Museum NY, Vakhtangov Theatre, and at several international festivals under the direction of Robert Wilson, Michael Marmarinos, Dimitris Papaioannou,Marina Abramovic, Rimas Tuminas, Stathis Livathinos, Wang Xiaoygin, TheoAbazis, Marianna Kavallieratos, Osmosis/Euripides Laskaridis, Lynsey Peisinger and other distinguished creators.
From 2010 he creates his own works: Moment was his first personal work as a co-creator followed by Half - a devised theatre performance, Meeting - a story of a paint handprint (performance), Window - a visual arts performance, Nature’s Hot Spot - an installation performance, U - a light installation performance, Pessoa- a devised theater performance, Whale – a theatre performance based on Eirini Anagnostopoulou’s, Sonets - a devised theater performance.
From 2014 he teaches theatre at Veaki School of Dramatic Arts, Fotiadi School of Dramatic Arts and the American College of Athens.
