Theatro Lexi presents Angelika Nikli Solomou, the Transparent by Periklis Moscholidakis, directed by Marina Vrondi, in a new stage version that transforms the original monologue into a lyrical ensemble piece.
At the centre of the play is a woman on the margins of history who is here brought out of the shadows: Angelika Nikli, the mother of Greece’s national poet, Dionysios Solomos. A cast of four presents Angelika as a child and as an adult, the voices of society, and the men who impacted her life, telling a story of love, social crisis and memory.
The four actors piece together the fragments of a life, creating a narrative through multiple voices, in which personal history becomes collective memory. At the same time, the play is a mosaic of memory and identity, weaving individual stories into a single dramatic experience.
The Transparent sheds light on the woman behind the myth, seeking out her voice across time and exploring the unseen aspects of an era and a life shaped by social constraints and personal choices.
Moscholidakis’s play was performed for the first time in Cyprus in the 2025-2026 season, receiving an enthusiastic reception from audiences and critics alike.
