REX THEATRE- STAGE "MARIKA KOTOPOULI"

One of Gregorios Xenopoulos’s finest novels has been adapted for the stage by the playwright Akis Dimos. Love, doubt, secrets and lies all combine in an Athens that differs little from today’s city and sparks the interest of a modern audience.

In the Athenian salons of the Belle Epoque, the charming artist Nassos Anastis is much in demand among bourgeois art-lovers. Rich merchants, judges, bankers and beautiful young ladies all seek his company. Among them is the young Thalia, who boldly confesses her love for him. In the ensuing correspondence between them, passion is never far from the surface. Nassos falls madly in love with Thalia, jeopardising his secret engagement with Kaiti. The call of duty and a huge misunderstanding lead Nassos to a make a choice that will sink him into misery and result in artistic mediocrity.
