Yannis Skaragass new play, Mowgli and his adventures in the jungle, is inspired by the unforgettable heroes of Rudyard Kiplings The jungle book.
Directed by Fotini Baxevani, it is a coming-of-age story about a boy who, without realising it, grows up straddling the world of animals and the world of humans. Raised among wild animals, he becomes a symbol of someone who has to exceed his own limits in order to discover who he is, aided by his own special qualities and an understanding of the needs of others.
This production takes a contemporary look at a familiar story, where the world of the jungle is compared to the world of humans through the figure of a child. Mowglis jungle is not the antithesis of the city, but is a different kind of civilisation, with its own laws and rules, which are just as necessary as those of human society.
Sensitivity and the need for harmonious coexistence are the main elements of a story that explores the strong connection between survival and the acceptance of difference.
The production immerses the audience in the jungle along with the actors and musicians, so that the performance is experienced as an entertaining and moving adventure.
