In August 2005, Greek newspapers reported on the case of a modern-day German Medea named Sabine H.After extensive investigations, the police discovered that she had given birth to nine children, whose bodies were found buried in the back garden of her parents house and in flower pots.It was a case that gripped all Germany, receiving extensive coverage in the German press and on television.Everyone had something to say about it even the German government but it was forgotten as quickly as it had appeared, without any satisfactory answer being given as to what it was that had turned Sabine H into a child killer.Sabine Η was left to be dealt with by the German justice system.
A prize-winning play in the Young Playwriting competition organised by the Greek National Theatre in partnership with the General Secretariatfor Youth, Sabine H by 28-year-old Manolis Tsipos is written in the form of an anti-operetta.Music, songs and prose combine into a courtroom to investigate the causes of these unbelievable crimes.The play is directed by the young and very promising Anestis Azas.
