The Megali Idea
It was the phrase on everyone’s lips: some speaking of it with admiration, others with disdain. Many invoked it: some out of pure ideology, others to mask their weaknesses. Too much blood, ink and money were wasted in its name. And many hated us because of it. The chequered life of an idea, from its birth in 1844 to its death (?) in 1922.
