From the silence of the display case to performance: “Erofili’s embroidery” at the Benaki Museum

24.1.2017

The Benaki Museum is joining with the National Theatre in a pioneering initiative in which every Tuesday, from 8 November 2016 to 28 March 2017, the public will have the opportunity to take part in a completely different kind of museum tour.

The protagonists will be the exhibits in the museum, which will narrate aspects of their history in texts dramatised by actors.

What forces pull the strings in “Erofili” by Georgios Chortatsis? The innocent love of two young people comes up against the power of the greedy king, but the only winners in the uncompromising conflict will be death – and the destiny which makes people no better than powerless puppets.
