“The Persians” by Aeschylus & “Lysistrata” by Aristophanes

The celebration of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development co-occurred with the occasion of the rehearsals kick off for two great plays of the Ancient Greek Drama, “The Persians” by Aeschylus and “Lysistrata” by Aristophanes, which will be presented by the National Theatre of Greece this summer at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, directed by the Artistic Director Dimitris Lignadis and Odysseas Papaspiliopoulos correspondingly.

The first reading of the tragedy “The Persians” co-occurred with the visit of the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Minister of Culture and Sports, Lina Mendoni and the General Secretary of Contemporary Culture, Nicholas Yatromanolakis.

During the Prime Minister’s visit, a dialogue with the production’s members took place where they exchanged opinions, as well as posed questions and concerns regarding the entire sector of performing arts.
