Melina Peonidou

Melina was born in Cyprus and began piano lessons at the age of six. Upon finishing her upper secondary education in Cyprus she was awarded a scholarship to the Moscow State Tschaikovsky Conservatory where she studied for six years graduating with a Master of Arts in choral conducting in 1991. She participated also in several Master classes and seminars in choral conducting by the famous German conductor Helmuth Rilling, in Germany and the U.S.A. In 1993 she was invited to work at the National Radio Choir of Greece by the Greek composer Mikes Theodorakis and in 1995 she joined the National Theater of Greece as a vocal coach. She has also been teaching music and singing at the Greek National Theater Drama school since 1996. She has collaborated with numerous directors and composers on over one hundred plays and musicals as well as on thirty six ancient tragedies and comedies staged at the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus. She has considerable experience of teaching music, musical curation and vocal coaching.
