Yannis Papadopoulos was born in Athens, Greece where he studied with †Yiorgos
Theocharopoulos (music theory & keyboards) and Yiorgos Fakanas (music theory & electric bass).He has a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Crete, Greece and a MScin Information Systems Engineering from the University of Reading, UK. For over 20years,Yannis has been employed by large organisations in the UK, the US and in Greece as an IT Project Manager and a Software Engineer. In 2022 he completed the LAB Music Education Jazz Professional 3-year program studying with Yiorgos Georgiadis (jazz upright bass & ensembles), Grigoris Ntanis (modern music theory & harmony, eartraining, melodic & rhythmic solfège, Improvisation & ensembles),Vagelis Stefanopoulos (piano, arrangement, music technology & production),Yiannis Papadopoulos(ensembles),Jannis"JanVanDeEngel" Angelopoulos (jazz history),Panos Iliou(jazz history)and Alexandros-Drakos Ktistakis(music education & ensembles).Yannis has since performed with the National Theatre in Athens, Greece and to this day continues to collaborate with an increasing number of professional jazz musicians.
