Open Call/Invitation: Artistic Residency in a European Theatre with the support of the National Theatre of Greece
25.1.2024
The National Theatre of Greece is launching a new outreach and cultural exchange programme aimed at emerging theatre artists based in Europe (writers, directors, dramaturgs) with the aim of promoting mobility and nurturing the new generation of theatre artists.
In addition to an open call for European creators to come to Athens, the NTG is inviting artists active in the field of theatre (as writers, directors, and dramaturgs) who would like to participate in the artistic residency programme in European theatres.
Three guest artists will have the opportunity to join a major theatre organisation, to work with its staff, and to familiarise themselves with the way the theatre works, with current artistic trends, and with the cultural life of the host city, in order to broaden their theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
The programme is aimed at playwrights, directors and dramaturgs up to 39 years old based in Greece.
The duration of the artistic residency is 75 days and can be divided into two periods (if necessary) between March and July 2024.
The National Theatre of Greece covers:
- Travel expenses between the participant’s country of residence and the country of the host theatre
- Accommodation and food for the period of the residency
- Artistic fee for possible running of a workshop
We stress that this initiative does not offer a paid position in the participating theatres, and that participants will be required to arrange their own personal health insurance during their stay in the host country.
