Worried about the long disappearance of her son, who she has driven away from home with her strictness, a mother goes to see a famous sorcerer. He reveals to her – and to the audience – the adventures that have put the young man’s life in danger and his ultimate dedication to the art of the theatre....

In “The Illusion”, Pierre Corneille employs a theatre-within-the-theatre device and a unique technique that mixes comedy and drama, romance and adventure, reality and illusion, and, in an exploration of the essence of theatricality, actors and audience.
This masterpiece of French classicism is presented at the GNT’s Central Theatre in a version adapted and directed by Dimitris Mavrikios, who also translated the play (in rhyme, like the original). It features a cast of outstanding actors of the older and younger generation and guarantees a magical theatrical experience.
