The National theatre of Greece presents a different kind of performance, a dance theatre performance… a Bossa Nova performance.
In Brasil, during the late 50’s, a new wave of music emerges as the ”folk” Samba gives it’s place to the Bossa Nova – the new wave –the music trend of those bourgeois living at the affluent suburbs across the coast. The bourgeois dance and the South American music stage take off.
An onstage party is thrown at “Marika Kotopouli” Stage where actors, dancers and musicians sway as the sound of Bossa Nova takes over. Soon, speech gets intertwined with music and everything starts to melt. The bodies follow the rhythm of Bossa Nova‘s repeated motif while they are sharing with us stories of love and heartbreaking separations.
Love is at the epicenter …we get acquainted, we fall in love, we experience the absolute bliss of love, along with the sadness that comes with it …and when everything is over, we start from the scratch.
