Following sold-out runs over the last two seasons, the award-winning National Theatre of Greece production of Goodbye, Lindita, directed by Mario Banushi, is returning on 16 October, now on the Main Stage of the Ziller Building, for a final series of performances in Athens, while continuing its European tour.

Goodbye, Lindita focuses on a primal human experience, that of losing a loved one. In a house, a family mourns in silence, until a series of strange events opens a window onto a world in which memory is intertwined with fantasy and reality with dreams. Mario Banushi, a multitalented young artist who brings a personal, handcrafted visual world to the theatre, has been inspired by his own experiences and the burial customs and traditions of the Balkans to create, together with a cast of gifted actors, a poetic meditation on loss. Without ever hearing the characters speak, we become witness to an inner journey that attempts to answer the eternal question of how to say farewell to those we love most.

Goodbye, Lindita was part of the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons at the National Theatre of Greece, garnering rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. It has received two major international honours at the Bitef Festival in Belgrade: the Jovan Ćirilov Special Award for an outstanding contribution to the art of the theatre, and the Politika Award for best director.

After Belgrade (Serbia), Dresden (Germany), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Adelaide (Australia) and Munich (Germany), plus its stop in Athens, the production will continue its European tour until December 2024.
